What is RSS
RSS Feeds, what are they and how to use them

Adding RSS Feeds: The easiest way to add a feed is to visit the site you're interested in, find out if they offer an RSS feed and if so then open the RSS file by clicking on it. For example, if you go to Google and click on News you'll see on the left hand side they have an RSS link, click on that link. This will open the RSS file. It isn't really important to look at what the RSS file looks like, what you're interested in is the address to the RSS file. So copy the address of the RSS file from the address bar; it should look something like this: http://news.google.com/nwshp?hl=en&tab=wn&q=&output=rss

Now go back into RSS Reader, click on the group you want to add this feed to and click the '+ Add' button. The add new feed dialog box should appear and if you copied that address it should already be entered, if not then paste the address into the text box and click 'Next'. After it validates the feed it will add it to the group you selected.

Easy Reading
After you've added RSS feeds you can click on them and the aggregator will automatically download the latest items available. You can browse through all the stories just like an email program and decide if you want to read further. RSS Reader gives you the option to read more in the preview pane or open a new browser window.

As you can see, it is possible to find out what's new for a multitude of websites without ever having to leave your RSS aggregator. It can save a lot of time since you don't have to visit each site individually, and most RSS feeds are plain text so download times are a lot quicker.
